As to my knowledge i think you can take the test within 45 days if you know the basics of programming, but at least 1month INTENSE preparation is must...Regarding preparation start with "java complete reference" or "java head start" then SCJP by kathy sierra finally go for dumps and take some online tests..Test centre can be any pro-metric centres(google it) like NIIT ...you can buy the voucher from them(ask for some discount) which has a validity of around 5 to 6months but my advice is to buy the voucher once your preparation is half done..voucher is nothing but an e-mail with some id no.. you can set the exam date with a prior notification of 15 to 20 days with the institute wherever you bought the voucher...Before buying the voucher make sure to clear all your doubts with them...voucher costs around rs6000/-, if you know any one from NIIT you can get better discount, dont buy from strangers.........
